According to recent news (here, and here), the Building and Construction Authority of Singapore (BCA) has announced it has identified new countries to diversify the pool of construction workers in Singapore.

Ho2 Design and Construction welcomes this new initiative. We believe diversification is a crucial aspect for any business, whether it is for construction, manufacturing, or other services providers. Diversification helps in the exchange of knowledge and culture, and fosters understanding as well as tolerance between people from different countries.

The profile of construction workers in Singapore has evolved through the years, from the pioneering “Samsui Women (红头巾)” from the 1930s, to the current assortment of workers from neighbouring countries. Although some may view construction workers in a less than favourable light, their role in driving the economy of Singapore cannot be understated and has to be appreciated and acknowledged.

Ho2 Design and Construction currently has a pool of about 30 construction workers on its payroll on a full-time basis, and we are constantly looking to expand our team. This recent announcement by the BCA to include workers from Sri Lanka and Philippines provides us with more options to source and select the most suitable candidates for our current and upcoming projects.
